The risk of Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is found to be associated with colectomy in the cases of ulcerative colitis according to the new study conducted by doctors from Canada. Colectomy is one of the common surgical procedures performed in the cases of inflammatory colon diseases. The inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) have been established as an independent risk factor for developing VTE as well as recurrent VTE.
