Pediatric corneal transplant (pediatric keratoplasty) is a high-risk procedure performed for indications like congenital corneal opacities, anterior segment dysgenesis and corneal scars. The pediatric corneal transplantation have higher rejection rates. But new surgical techniques have shown better results. In India, pediatric keratoplasty accounts for only 5% of the total corneal transplant that occurs.
