According to a recent review, co-infection is increasingly causing the community- and hospital-acquired pneumonia. The co-infection can further increase the severity of the disease and become the most common reason for ICU admissions. Most doctors treat pneumonia with antibiotics such as amoxicillin. However, the doctors must first recognize the type of infection (viz., bacterial or viral). With the current scenario of prevention of antibiotic resistance, the physicians must know the practice essentials for managing pneumonia in children.
