Postpartum stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a common complication that can significantly affect a woman's quality of life, highlighting the need for effective preventive strategies during pregnancy. The pelvic floor workout (PEFLOW) program, which combines pelvic floor muscle training with global postural exercises to improve core strength, stability, and pelvic-spinal balance, has been developed as a targeted intervention. To address this need, a study evaluated whether PEFLOW can prevent postpartum SUI among 764 pregnant women.

The study found that the PEFLOW program significantly reduced the incidence of postpartum stress urinary incontinence compared with standard care. At 6 weeks postpartum, SUI occurred in 8.7% of women in the exercise group versus 13.9% in the control group, yielding an absolute risk reduction of 5.17 percentage points.
