A 2.5-month- old male was admitted to the hospital for dehydration associated with persistent diarrhea. The patient had no history of fever, vomiting, or hematochezia. Attempts to breast-feed the patient early in life were unsuccessful secondary to diarrhea that began on day 4 of life. During the prior 2.5 months, the patient had been tried on multiple formulas including cow's milk-based, partial hydrolysate, and amino-acid formulas, with continued diarrhea. Past Medical History: The patient was a full-term infant with a birth weight of 3.6 kg. There were no complications reported with labor or delivery.
