Multisystem hyperinflammatory condition has been labeled as a new threat post-COVID-19 infection. This condition is observed in children with prior exposure or infection to SARS-CoV-2. Another fatal threat has surfaced in young adults with COVID-19. A recent study published in Radiology examined the imaging findings of children with the post-COVID-19 inflammatory condition, known as multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C).
The symptoms associated with this syndrome are airway inflammation, coronary artery aneurysms, the rapid development of pulmonary edema, and extensive intra-abdominal inflammatory changes.
