A recent study published in a renowned journal reports that the researchers have found that it is feasible to predict the high-risk infants who will later receive an autism diagnosis. The study used machine learning techniques that identify the brain's functional connections in a 6-month old infant to develop an autism at 24 months of age. Although these findings need further confirmation in larger groups, it is indeed an important step toward the early detection of individuals with autism before its symptom manifestation.
