Synopsis Cardiac myxomas are one of the most common primary intracardiac tumors which accounts for about 40% of benign cardiac tumors witnessed. Approximately (75– 90) % of these tumors occur in the left atrium of the patients. Although myxomas are histologically benign in nature, they are potentially dangerous due to the potential risk of systemic and cerebral embolism. Therefore, identifying the crucial factors that lead to embolism is extremely crucial . T he present study aimed to investigate the potential predictors of embolism in patients with left atrial myxoma.

This week’s “ MED FACT ” discusses the single-center retrospective study from the Journal of Echocardiography, “ Evaluation of the potential predictors of embolism in patients with left atrial myxoma ”.
