Inadequate perioperative pain control during hysterectomy can result in extended hospital stay, readmission, a delayed return to normal daily activities, a decreased ambulation, and overall increased morbidity, ultimately resulting in decreased patient and surgeon satisfaction. To best achieve better treatment outcomes, decisions about postoperative pain control should consider the factors associated with different surgeries in different patient populations. Hence, there is a great need for continuous optimization of available options.
