Relapsing and/or remitting multiple sclerosis (MS) is challenging to treat. Pharmacotherapy with natalizumab has proven efficacy in treating relapsing MS. Hence, it is necessary to evaluate the effects of cessation of natalizumab in pregnant patients with MS to formulate guidelines for patient education, consent, and informed decision-making. A study has analyzed and reported the effects of natalizumab cessation on MS relapse in pregnant patients.

Conclusion More than 10% of women evaluated in this study presented with clinically significant disability from pregnancy-related relapses of MS, at one year postpartum, after cessation of pharmacotherapy with natalizumab.
