Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a distressing disorder amongst women of reproductive age with significant implications for productivity and quality of life. PMDD has moderate to severe symptoms, including mood changes and behavioral, psychological, and physical indications such as cramps, bloating, and tender breasts. Based on the symptoms, PMDD is categorized with criteria for diagnosis into types A, B, C, and D. Symptomatic treatments such as antidepressants, birth control pills, nutritional supplements, physical exercise, and lifestyle changes help to prevent or minimize the symptoms.
