Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the prevalent and most lethal cancer worldwide. It is evident that early tumor recurrence is high in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related HCC. However, new research findings suggest that patients who received consecutive preoperative antiviral therapy (AVT) for more than 90 days had a decreased incidence of microvascular invasion (MVI) compared with patients who did not receive any preoperative AVT.
Furthermore, the investigators identified that patients who did not receive preoperative antiviral treatment and had a preoperative HBV DNA level ≥2000 IU/mL were at increased risk of MVI. Source: Oncology Learning Network
