India is rapidly becoming the Diabetes capital of the world. Complications of this disease include Nephropathy and Retinopathy. We should have some screening guidelines in place for Retinopathy so that we do not miss a case and unnecessary we should not overburden our resources. The frequency of follow-up examinations can be individualized, with more frequent follow-up in patients who have abnormal findings or if retinopathy is progressing.

Less frequent examinations (every two to three years) may be considered with the advice of an eye care professional in the setting of a normal examination.
