Cervical cancer– the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide and the second most common cancer in less developed countries. India accounts for one-fourth of the world’s cervical cancer-related mortalities with almost 60,078 deaths. Systematic reviews and meta-analysis suggest that 82.7% of invasive cervical cancer show human papilloma virus (HPV) as the common risk factor . Regular cervical screening, early diagnosis, and HPV vaccination are the most effective strategies to prevent cervical cancer.

The HPV vaccine contains virus-like particles formed by HPV surface proteins and lacks genetic material (DNA).
