Burn injuries occurs universally and affected mankind since antiquity,every year more than 2 million people sustained burn injuries in India,out of these 1/10 admitted in hospitals and 5000 patients died every year from admitted patients, 40% of deaths occurred in first 24 hrs of admission. Current therapy of acutely burned patients is based on adequate resuscitation,early wound debridement and closure,support of post-burn hypermetabolic response and control of infection.
