The risk of post-procedural urinary tract infection   (ppUTI)  after retrograde urethrogram (RUG) has not been well quantified. Although prophylactic antibiotics may reduce the risk, it must be assessed against the risks of antibiotic resistance. In this regard, a recent study investigated the rate of ppUTI after RUG and examined factors associated with the use of antibiotics at the time of RUG.
