In young adults, grade 2 gliomas lead to progressive neurologic deterioration and premature death. Prior treatments with procarbazine, lomustine (also called as CCNU), and vincristine after radiation therapy revealed a longer progression-free survival, but not over-all survival. This synopsis reports the long-term results of procarbazine, CCNU, and vincristine in grade 2 glioma patients. In adults, grade 2 gliomas constitute 5 to 10% of all brain tumors.

Eventually, nearly all patients with developing symptoms die prematurely.
