In clinical trials, tirzepatide demonstrated up to a 22.5% reduction in body weight in individuals with obesity or overweight by week 72. However, real-world evidence of its efficacy in adults without type 2 diabetes (T2D) remains limited. To address this gap, a retrospective study analyzed data from 4,177 individuals (mean age – 46 years; mean BMI – 37.1 kg/m2) without T2D to assess tirzepatide’s real-world effectiveness. The study found that 73.8% of participants had at least one obesity-related complication, while 51% had two or more.
Over six months, tirzepatide reduced body weight by 12.9%. While 88.6% of individuals started on low doses (2.5 or 5 mg), dose escalation was slower than in clinical trials, with over half of them receiving lower doses (<10 mg).
