In developing and developed countries, Stroke is the second cause of death after ischemic heart disease. Ischemic stroke (IS) is the utmost common type of stroke, accounting for 85% of all strokes. The 30-day adjusted mortality rate for IS ranges from 5-20 %. Post-stroke complications have adverse effects on the physical and mental status of the patients and, on the other hand, have an economic burden on society. Further, post-stroke complications in the early days of hospitalized patients are markedly increasing the mortality rate. Therefore, early recognition of post-stroke complications is the key to success in the management of stroke patients.
