Type-2 diabetes mellitus is leading cause of morbidity and mortality in India. Though the first line therapy like metformin is used primarily to control hyperglycemia, the long-acting insulins like insulin glargine are eventually required in controlling diabetes, especially in older adults. Insulin glargine 300 units/ml, a new generation high strength insulin, is useful to reduce the number of injections in diabetic patients who have larger requirements of insulin. Furthermore, studies have shown a significant reduction in nocturnal severe hypoglycemic events with the use of insulin 300 units/ml.
