Several approaches have been suggested for the management of cardiovascular diseases, including pharmacological management, diet, or physical exercise. Yet, cardiovascular diseases remain a major global health burden. A recent study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), has shown that people who sleep less than 6 hours a day are at an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The study was conducted on 3974 bank employees, two-thirds of whom were males.

The participants were fitted with devices to monitor their daily activities, including sleep patterns.
