A 9 year old child presented with Bilateral vescio-ureteric Reflux along with Duplex system on the right side. Since the kidney function was well preserved, we decided to go ahead with a Bilateral Ureteric Reimplantation. Generally, it is an open surgery involving cutting of rectus muscle and opening up of the bladder. However, we decided to use the DaVinci Robot to do this surgery Intravesically to allow for early recovery and mobilization of the child. The bladder was inflated with CO2 gas and tagged to the Anterior abdominal wall.
Ports were inserted into the bladder and the robotic arms placed inside the bladder.The technique was the same as considered gold standard by open technique. We did a Cohen's Cross Trigonal Bilateral Ureteric Reimplantation including a common sheath reimplantation of the right side. The child had an uneventful recovery and was discharged after 2 days.
