A consumer court in South Delhi has directed a private hospital and its treating dental specialist to pay Rs 15,000 in compensation for a deficiency in service related to a root canal procedure. The Commission found that although the treatment was initiated, the patient was not adequately informed about the required number of sittings or follow-up, which led to avoidable pain and further intervention from another practitioner. The case began in December 2020 when the patient consulted a dental specialist at a private hospital for tooth pain.
After initial examination and an X-ray, she was charged for multiple dental procedures, including restoration, flap surgery, and root canal therapy. The dentist performed an initial root canal step and temporary filling and prescribed medications. However, the patient did not experience pain relief and sought evaluation from another nearby clinic aโฆ
