Doctors and staffers at the VN Desai Hospital in Santacruz went on a flash strike on Friday after a local politician verbally abused a medico for not admitting a fever patient. The medical services were badly affected as several patients were turned away from the hospital throughout the day. Services resumed only in the evening after civic officials lodged a police complaint against a local BJP corporator for allegedly hurling abuses and making allegations of bribery against the casualty medical officer (CMO) on Thursday evening.

Corporator had come to the hospital after relatives of Prem (15) told him that the doctors were not admitting him, despite the boy running a high fever.
