Senior doctors have joined the resident doctors' fight against the government's decision to stop issuing the Obligation to Return to India (NORI) certificate. The Indian Medical Association, an umbrella body of doctors has extended financial support to the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors, which has approached the Bombay High Court against the decision, which it calls arbitrary. Last week, the IMA state secretary Dr. Suhas Pingle showed his support to MARD by giving it a token amount to cover the legal expenses.

"The IMA is with you and we are also planning to intervene in the matter," Pingle wrote in his letter.
