It is a known fact that neonates in first 24-48 hours of life are hypoglycemic and acquire normal state after this period. However, there is still a large number of children continue to be hypoglycemic for a prolonged period. This article provides a synopsis of recommendations from Pediatric Endocrine Society of North America regarding the management of hypoglycemia in neonates, infants and children. In first 24-48 hours of life most of the babies are hypoglycemic as the transition from intrauterine to extrauterine life takes place. As they progress further in a life, these glycemic levels tend to normalize.
