Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been used in clinical trials for various fields of treatment. Benefits of treatment with SCs include its easy expansion to various lineages, low immunogenicity and their accessibility from medical wastes. Since MSCs can be obtained relatively easily and have multiple functions, around 40 clinical trials are underway. Trials are mostly in phase I or II and some clinical trials have shown beneficial results.
