Over the past decade, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) has emerged as a tool for severe aortic valve stenosis, especially in high-surgical-risk population. Clinical trials have demonstrated the superiority of TAVR over medical therapy for patients at prohibitive surgical risk. The innovation of this technique has extended the treatment to numerous patients and has successfully reduced short-term as well as medium-term mortality among patients with severe aortic stenosis. With the progress of TAVR technology, there is an emphasis on the development of valves, appropriate patient selection, risk assessment, and other procedural considerations to facilitate safe and effective performance.
