Strabismus, also called as crossed eye or lazy eye is pathological misalignment of the visual axes affecting approximately 2-4% children. Timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment of children with strabismus can reduce the prevalence of amblyopia and ocular misalignment in later childhood and adult life. Therefore, this article discusses recommendations of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists for management of strabismus. Strabismus is a common pediatric condition, with a higher prevalence associated with assisted delivery (forceps or caesarean section), low birth weight (including premature infants) and neurodevelopmental disorders.
