Context: Lip print has the potential for person identification due to its unique pattern in every individual. Few studies are available regarding the prevalence of lip print patterns in the western Maharashtra region. Hence, this study was planned to find out the predominance of lip print pattern in the study population. Aims: To study lip print patterns in all the four quadrants of lips and predominant patterns in both genders. Settings and Design: Descriptive, cross-sectional, longitudinal study.

Methods and Material: Lip prints of about 800 patients (400 Males and400 Females) were taken over a period of 1 year. Lip print patterns were obtained using lip stick on a cellophane tape.
