Urgent-start peritoneal dialysis (USPD) is a technique in which peritoneal dialysis is initiated soon after peritoneal dialysis catheter placement in the patients with newly diagnosed with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). This article gives an overview of protocols, process and procedure to implement USPD. Peritoneal dialysis is the way of treatment when kidneys cannot perform adequately during ultrafiltration. Peritoneal dialysis is performed on such patients.
