Govt is bent upon creating the national medical commission in lieu of MCI. The various reasons are being cited to justify this. The main reason to justify the creation of this body - is to provide good health care to the rural population. Will NMC be able to do it - Let them understand few points - The route cause of deterioration in medical services in the last decade has been - Neglect of primary care by various Govt in the past -Both state and Centre.
Govt had been concentrating on establishing tertiary care hospitals and most of the meagre amount provided in the budget is spent on maitaining these hospitals. Most patients from rural areas rush to these hospitals even for minor ailments increasing their work load. Another cause is establishment of Corporate hospitals which are five star.
