A recent survey has revealed that 58.2% of healthcare workers in India feel unsafe at their workplaces, with 78.4% experiencing threats while on duty, particularly in state and union government medical colleges. The survey was led by experts from reputed medical institutions in New Delhi, including AIIMS . It was conducted on 1,566 healthcare workers, including doctors, faculty members, medical officers, nurses, and supporting staff. Nearly 50% of the participants reported a lack of dedicated duty rooms for night shifts or extended hours.

Notably, the existing duty rooms were deemed inadequate, lacking basic amenities such as ventilation, air conditioning, pest control, and regular cleaning.
