Multiple myeloma is the second most common hematologic malignancy in adults, characterized by the neoplastic proliferation of clonal plasma cells making a monoclonal immunoglobulin. It is a malignancy of plasma cells that accumulate in the bone marrow, usually, secrete large amounts of paraprotein, and cause the destruction of the bones. However, the presenting symptoms and disease course of multiple myeloma are vague and nonspecific. Therefore, early detection poses a diagnostic challenge in primary care.
