A systematic review and meta-analysis of 15 studies involving 3,045 pregnant women with tuberculosis (TB) investigated the prevalence of maternal and perinatal adverse outcomes. The pooled mean maternal age was 27.6 years, and more than half of TB cases were diagnosed during pregnancy. Among maternal complications , fetal growth restriction (19%), pregnancy-induced hypertension (15%), oligohydramnios (11%), and gestational diabetes (10%) were the most frequently reported. The most common neonatal adverse outcomes were low birth weight (30%), preterm birth (22%), small for gestational age (20%), and an Apgar score below 7 (13%).

Maternal mortality was 0.05%, while neonatal mortality was 5%. These findings highlight the continued burden of adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes among pregnant women with TB, underscoring the need to optimize healthcare for this population. ##Reference##โ€ฆ
