During a courtesy visit to one of the family acquaintances, I was confronted with (very often the case with all of us) a second opinion of reaffirmation. Briefly, the patient, a middle-aged lady, had been in a very premier hospital for nearly a month and had been extensively consulted/reviewed / investigated to arrive at the final diagnosis of CNS tuberculosis and discharged on standard anti-Koch's regime and tapering steroids. The patient came from a village and essentially illiterate. On closer questioning, I discovered that the patient was not taking the medicines as she should have been but haphazardly.
