Publication Synopsis Heart failure (HF) is a serious public health concern, leading towards worldwide. Despite numerous therapeutic maneuvers, the prognosis remains dismal. A study published in Journal of Indian College of Cardiology revealed that Thiamine, important vitamin, essential in energy formation inside the cells improves cardiac function effectively. The availability of effective and proven therapies for HF has been steadily increasing the life expectancy of these patients, and thus the prevalence of chronic HF has risen.
Although angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, β-blockers, aldosterone antagonists, implantable cardio defibrillator/cardiac resynchronization pacemaker devices, and omega-3 fatty acids have improved morbidity and mortality in this population, mortality rates remain high.
