World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that the proportion of deaths from tobacco-related diseases will increase in India, from 1.4% in 1990 to 13.3% of all deaths in 2020. India is the second largest tobacco consuming country in the world with about 27 crore users of smoke or smokeless tobacco. A study has revealed that due to consumption of tobacco, a number of cancers occur in humans such as lung cancer (13.25%), brain cancer (4.84%) and prostate cancer (4%) in males.
Whereas in case of females, breast cancer (25.6%), ovary cancer (5.4%), brain cancer (3.68%) and lung cancer (3.01%).
