Headache after lumbar puncture is a very common presentation clinicians come across. Though, it is a frequent presentation, clinicians still require assistance with the best suitable treatment modality. In this short presentation, we have tried to explain these modalities. Headache is a common presentation in the patients who undergo lumbar puncture. The main reason for a headache is thought to be the reduced cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure after retrieval of CSF.
There are several strategies to reduce the occurrence of the headache, which includes right gauge selection for needle and stylet reinsertion. Some common treatments in severe cases include epidural blood patch and epidural saline dose. The presentation discusses all these aspects.
