As the toll of COVID 19 positive cases in India rose to 147, it is high time for the Indian government to take serious initiatives to curb the community transmission of this deadly infection. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) convened a meeting on 15th March, with national health experts about the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country, and the initiatives to be taken by the healthcare system to address the growing crisis. According to ICMR, India does not have sufficient testing kits to perform the test of COVID 19.
The Indian government is probably delaying expanding testing criteria because if patients who have no travel history would be included, we would soon run out of tests.
