Health apps have become popular recently and they are as common sights as smartphones themselves. People use them to track physical activity, calorie intake, duration and patterns of sleep as well as blood pressure and blood sugar. There are pros and cons of using them and everyone should be made aware of the same. It is not mandatory to seek an FDA approval for these apps before use and hence the regulations are not very strict.

There are about 1,50,000 health apps available in the market and out of those only 160 are FDA approved, this is mainly because these are considered low-risk (products which are non-invasive, non-implanted).
