The US FDA has approved a combination of meloxicam and rizatriptan for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and rizatriptan is a serotonin (5-HT) 1B/1D receptor agonist. This combination therapy offers an innovative multi-mechanistic strategy for treating migraines by targeting multiple pathways involved in a migraine attack.
