Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is an image-guided, minimally invasive procedure for treating fibroid tumors in the uterus. It employs fluoroscopy, a type of real-time x-ray, to guide the delivery of embolic substances to the uterine arteries of fibroids, resulting in ischemic necrosis of the tumor.
