A doctor's white coat is a great tool to connect with his patient. It has been feared, respected, trusted by patients for ages. But from the doctors point of view, it carries another importance---it might serve as a quiver for their "must-have" medical equipment. The pockets of a lab coat contain an array of tools ranging from a smartphone to magnifying glass, a ruler to an ophthalmoscope. Doctors who have a great dependence on basic tools of bedside examination always have few tools that can never leave the pocket of their lab coat.

That is, of course, if they actually wear one. Many a doctor even does not have the practice to wear a lab coat.
