In general practice we often use cefixime in cases of enteric/UTI/LRTI or any kind of infection because it is effective. So what should be used for any kind of fever other than cefixime? Its very easy to criticize but difficult to apply.
Even harrison says dont use unnecessary antibiotics. But In India we are practicing presumptive/preventive medicine where first time visit will not call for investigations in private small clinic Whereas i n west evidence based medicine, so who is using it unnecessarily?
