A 45-year-old patient came with a history of Ayurvedic Treatment for irregular periods from Jan 2014- Aug 2014. The periods normalised after treatment but she developed subsequently a rash in the back of the neck, face and forearms. The rash becomes more prominent and itchy on exposure to the sun. She was prescribed topical corticosteroids by her dermatologist for 3 months but without improvement. She consulted me for itching and photosensitivity.

I prescribed her antihistamines and allergy workup was normal. She was advised to use sunscreen while going out and referred to a haematologist to rule out any suspected purpura or vasculitis. After her haematology workup, the patient met an endocrinologist on advice by a family friend who suspected secondary adrenal suppression from topical corticosteroids and was treated by him for 3 months.
