I have a patient , a house maid by profession, she is perpetually in fear of catching tetanus infection and lands up in my clinic very frequently for taking a tetanus toxoid injection. Recently she came with injury to her hand by a glass piece and was insisting for the injection which I refused, she then went on to tell me that if i don't give it to her she will go to the doctor near her house and get it anyhow. This left me wondering, how safe it is to take the vaccine frequently and what is the ideal frequency?

What I remember from my study is that a single vaccine will protect a person at least for five years. Please correct me if I am wrong.
