Cataract surgery was done on five patients in a prestigious institution. On second day, all patients have red inflammatory operated eye. As per news report, second surgery was done in a hurry but condition of all patients further deteriorated and they had Purulent discharge on third day. All patients were discharged and on discharge slip doctor removed his name and wrote institution name in place of his name. Patients showed resentment on discharge. The enquiry is initiated by administration of institution.
The questions needed to be answered are: Why all patients got infection? Is it lack of proper sterilization? Why doctor became panicky over management and discharge of patients? What is your opinion? Kindly share.
