A 25-year-old woman is brought to a hospital, accompanied by her boyfriend. Earlier evening, they had an argument and the boyfriend walked out. On his return after two hours, he found her lying on the sofa. There was evidence of her having consumed alcohol and there were a number of empty packets of pills lying on the floor next to her. She admitted to having taken these approximately one hours earlier. On arrival, she is conscious and smells strongly of alcohol; her speech is slurred and incoherent, but she is breathing spontaneously with oxygen saturation of 99% on room air. Her pulse is 100 beats/min with blood pressure 90/60.
