This Case is from the memories of my student life about 37 years ago. An 18 years old, unmarried girl came with the complaint of bleeding per vagina. Senior gynaecologist examined her and on P/V examination a huge uterine mass was felt. Thinking it a big tumor, hysterectomy was done and the specimen was sent to the pathology department for histopathological examination. The pathologist who was master of his field found huge mass is due to hematoma and not due to tumor. Teaching his postgraduates he kept the possibility of D and C by an untrained person with incomplete evacuation and continuous oozing leading to hematoma formation.
Thank God people were not so aware of the CPA. Gynecologist realized her mistake. What Is your reaction about this case? Was it due to over confidence of gynaecologist? Kindly share.
